WhatBroke

About WhatBroke

One symptom, one page, one answer. No 1,200-word preamble before the fix.

Most people building with AI coding tools are not debugging their code. They are debugging the tool: a model that quietly ran out of context, an agent that edited the wrong file, an import for a library that does not exist. The answers are scattered across Discord threads, GitHub issues and Reddit. WhatBroke puts them in one place, in one shape, so you can scan and go.

Every page follows the same four steps

  1. What you saw — the literal error, or the behaviour.

  2. What it actually means — in plain English.

  3. The fix — numbered and copy-pasteable.

  4. How to stop it happening again — the setting, habit or rules file.

How this is funded

Free. No paywall, no login, no cookie wall. It will be funded by a single sponsor slot in the newsletter, and by affiliate links where the recommendation is honest and the link is labelled on the page it appears on. A fix is never a paid placement. If a tool is the wrong tool for the job, the page says so.

Corrections

Tool behaviour changes constantly, so every page carries the date it was last checked. If a fix here is wrong or out of date, or you hit something that is not covered, reply to any newsletter issue. That is where most pages come from.
